Joan Dark is an experienced and successful Realtor specializing in the East Bay communities of Oakland, Piedmont and Berkeley. She is a native of Wisconsin and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Mills College, where she received a Masters Degree in Psychology and Education.
Prior to beginning her career in real estate, Joan taught in both the Oakland Public Schools and Peralta Colleges. She has written articles on real estate, local history, and community issues for the Montclarion, and sung with the Oakland Symphony Chorus, San Francisco Bay Revels and a Gregorian Chant Chorus.
Joan is a active alumnae of Mills College, on the steering committee of the Oakland branch.
Joan is involved in her community: in architectural preservation, on the board of directors of the Oakland Heritage Alliance: in social service, she was the founding executive director of Oakland Youthworks, a youth employment agency. She is a contributing member of the Piedmont Avenue Neighborhood School Association, and has helped fund the computer lab, library, playground murals, and other school projects.
